APPLICATION FEES

The online application fee is Rs. 500/- 

 Please note the above fees are non-refundable and the offer of admission will be based on merit and the number of seats available. 

 

 

 

The M.Sc. course in Botany is designed to provide an enriching experience in plant sciences by covering a wide range of topics, both modern and classical. The department offers MSc by papers. The total number of 20 seats are allotted for MSc Botany. The students are admitted to MSc on the basis of their BSc botany scores. The specialization in MSc is Angiosperm Taxonomy. The Department of Botany has an associated Blatter Herbarium (BLAT) is one of the major Herbarium in India and also has world wide recognition. The plant taxonomy teaching staff are among the best in the country.  

 

The MSc (Botany) Programme has been framed as per NEP 2020. It is a 2 year, 4-semester autonomous credit-based programme.  Each course has a practical component. The students have the option of exiting the course after 1 year with a PG-diploma provided they acquire the necessary credits.

 

 

Eligibility criteria: A candidate for being eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Degree in Botany should have passed the B.Sc. (Three-year integrated course) degree examination of the University of Mumbai in Botany (6 units or 3 units) 

OR

B.Sc. Botany from any other University. 

Students whose 6 semester results are awaited are eligible to apply but their admission will be provisional. 

 

Instructions for filling the form - 

The admission to MSc Botany is based on your marks in the Botany courses that you have done over the three years/six[i] semesters of your BSc degree. (exclude Applied Component courses and marks) 

If you are a Mumbai University student you would have done 

In SEM 1 - two theory courses/papers in Botany and practical courses 

In SEM 2 - two theory courses/papers in Botany and practical courses

In SEM 3, three theory courses/papers in Botany and practical courses

In SEM 4, three theory courses/papers in Botany and practical courses

In SEM 5 and SEM 6 

if you are a six units student you would have had 4 theory courses/papers in Botany in each of these semesters along with practical courses

if you are a three units student you would have had 2 theory courses/papers in Botany in each of these semesters along with practical courses

We require your marks in Botany only (theory and practicals) from all the three years to create a merit list. (Do not enter your grade /CGPA /SGPA. Your application will be rejected if grades are entered instead of marks)   

Also, do not enter the marks of your Applied Component. 

So, when filling in your marks please fill in title of the courses/papers correctly. For every course/ paper please fill in marks obtained and maximum marks as shown in your marksheet.

A three units student will write NA for courses 3 and 4 in sem 5 and sem 6 and fill in marks obtained and maximum marks as zero for these courses.

In case your 6th Sem results are awaited please add zero for both marks obtained and maximum marks.

For students not belonging to Mumbai University –

In case your college/university has a greater number of courses/papers in Botany please add rows wherever needed. 

In case your college/university has fewer number of courses/papers in Botany please add NA in the rows for course/paper name and put marks obtained and maximum marks as zero.

In case your 6th Sem results are awaited please add zero for marks obtained and maximum marks.


 

 

 

 

CREATION OF THE ACADEMIC BANK OF CREDITS (ABC) ID

As per the guidelines by UGC and the University of Mumbai (please refer to the circular in the downloads below), students are requested to provide their ABC ID to the college at the time of admission. 

 

To facilitate the creation of the same in case you do not have one, please follow the steps mentioned below.

You can create your ABC ID using following any one method between Option A or Option B as per the steps given. 

 

OPTION A:

  • Website: www.abc.gov.in,
  • Visit  www.abc.gov.in
  • Click on my account: student
  • For new users – Click “sign up for “ Meri Pehchan”
  • Enter your Mobile Number, you will get OTP on your Registered Mobile No.
  • Fill in all necessary details and click on verify
  • Students will get ABC ID.

 

OPTION B:

  • www.digilocker.gov. in
  • Sign in to Digi Locker by visiting  www.digilocker.gov.in (can be done using Mobile or Aadhar)
  • Go to Search Documents
  • Go to Education Section
  • Search for the ABC ID widget
  • Click on the widget to generate and download ABC ID
  • Students will get ABC ID

  2. Aadhar Card(scan of both the Front & Back will be required)

  4. Domicile Certificate (If Applicable)
  5. Baptism Certificate (If Applicable)
  6. SWD Proof (Student with Disabilities) (If Applicable)
