The Department of Life Science and Biochemistry at St Xavier's College, Mumbai (Empowered Autonomous Institute), was founded in 1977 by Dr. (Fr). Lancelot Pereira, the then Principal of the college. It has been among the first departments to introduce an interdisciplinary program in biology at the undergraduate level in India. The Department of Life Science and Biochemistry is guided by the following vision:

"To lay the foundation for interdisciplinary learning and to provide opportunities to challenge the understanding and imagination of our students, so that they internalize their experiences and emerge as stronger, more confident and sensitized individuals".

Eligibility criteria:

A candidate is eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Degree in Life Science with a B.Sc. (Three-year integrated course) degree from the University of Mumbai as prescribed by the Honorable Vice Chancellor's directive VCD No. PG/ Univ./VCD/ ICC / 2012-13/ 8. Click here for more details.

Admissions granted will be provisional and subject to passing of all semesters VI of UG program failing which application to our MSc program will be cancelled.

Instructions for filling the form –

Please read all the instructions carefully first before filling the form.

Incomplete or incorrectly filled forms will be rejected.

The admission to MSc Life Science is based on the marks obtained in the various courses of the prescribed subjects that you have completed over the three years or, five semesters of your qualifying degree, as mentioned in the VCD.

If you are a Mumbai University student you would have completed the following in your chosen biology subject:

SEM 1 - two theory courses/papers and practical courses.

SEM 2 - two theory courses/papers and practical courses.

SEM 3, three theory courses/papers and practical courses

SEM 4, three theory courses/papers and practical courses

In SEM 5 and SEM 6

1. Students who have completed BSc under NEP

As a Major in any biology subject, you would have three theory papers, one elective paper, One OJT/FP in semester five and semester six. Only credits and marks of Major subject will be considered for admission.

By the end of three years you should have completed 132 credits of which 56 for Major subject and 20 credits for minor subject.

2. Students completed BSc under non-NEP

As a six-unit student you would have had 4 theory courses/papers in each semester along with practical courses

As a three-unit student you would have had 2 theory courses/papers in each semester along with practical courses

Your marks in Biology related subjects only (theory and practical) from all the three years will be considered to create a final merit list.

Please fill in title of the courses/papers correctly.

For every course/ paper please fill in marks obtained and maximum marks as shown in your marksheet.

A three-unit student will write NA for courses 3 and 4 in Sem 5 and Sem 6 and fill in marks obtained and maximum marks as zero for these courses.

In case your 6th Sem results are awaited please add zero for both marks obtained and maximum marks.

Names of courses / papers offered by your college maybe different from the courses mentioned in the table. Please fill in correct names of courses you have covered in the 6 semesters.

Do not fill details of Applied Component courses.

Please add rows (wherever needed), if you have greater number of courses/papers in the subjects related to Biology.

In case your college/university has fewer number of courses/papers in the subject related to Biology, please enter Not Applicable or simply, NA, in the rows for course/paper name and put marks obtained and maximum marks as zero.

In case your Semester 6th result is awaited, please add zero for Marks obtained and Maximum marks.

REFUND POLICY FOR ONLINE APPLICATION FEES

1. All payments made towards the online application are deemed non- refundable under any circumstances.

2. ln the case of a double payment resulting from a technical glitch, a refund for the excess amount will be initiated by the college after verifying the transactions.

3. Chargeback cases will not be entertained by the college.

4. Requests for reimbursement of Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) charges on transactions will not be entertained.

5. Refunds will not be issued for any cancellation or withdrawal of application or exam registration.

6. ln the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as natural disasters or government regulations, where the entrance exam cannot be conducted by the college, alternative arrangements or rescheduling will be provided, but refunds will not be offered.

7. Any requests for exceptions to the refund policy must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the college administration.

8. The refund policy may be amended or modified at any time without prior notice by the college. Any changes will be communicated through official channels.

9. Refunds will be processed using the original method of payment whenever possible. However, refunds may be issued via alternative methods at the discretion of the college.

10. Any disputes regarding refunds or the application of the refund policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the appropriate legal authorities and the college's internal dispute resolution process.
