APPLICATION FEES

The online application fee is Rs. 500/- 

 Please note the above fees are non-refundable and the offer of admission will be based on merit and the number of seats available. 

 

 

The Department of Microbiology at St Xavier’s College, Mumbai (Empowered Autonomous Institute), was founded 92 years ago by Rev. Fr. Gonzalo Palacios. It was the first department to teach microbiology at the undergraduate level in India. The Department stands strong on a base built by the traditions and achievements of the Faculty and the students over the years.

Eligibility criteria: A candidate is eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Degree in Microbiology with a B.Sc. (Three-year integrated course) degree from the University of Mumbai in Microbiology (6 units or 3 units) 

OR

B.Sc. Microbiology from any other University. 

Provisional admission is granted to students awaiting their 6-semester results.

 

Instructions for filling the form – 

Please read all the instructions first before filling the form.

Incomplete or incorrectly filled forms will not be considered.

The admission to MSc Microbiology is based on your marks in the Microbiology courses/papers that you have completed over the three years/six semesters of your BSc degree.

If you are a Mumbai University student you would have done 

In SEM 1 - two theory courses/papers in Microbiology and practical courses

In SEM 2 - two theory courses/papers in Microbiology and practical courses

In SEM 3, three theory courses/papers in Microbiology and practical courses

In SEM 4, three theory courses/papers in Microbiology and practical courses

In SEM 5 and SEM 6 

if you are a six-unit student you would have had 4 theory courses/papers in Microbiology in each of these semesters along with practical courses

if you are a three-unit student you would have had 2 theory courses/papers in Microbiology in each of these semesters along with practical courses

We require your marks in Microbiology only (theory and practical) from all the three years to create a merit list.

So, when filling in your marks please fill in title of the courses/papers correctly. For every course/ paper please fill in marks obtained and maximum marks as shown in your marksheet.

A three-unit student will write NA for courses 3 and 4 in Sem 5 and Sem 6 and fill in marks obtained and maximum marks as zero for these courses.

In case your 6th Sem results are awaited please add zero for both marks obtained and maximum marks.

Fill in your marks as per the example given below for ALL the semesters.

Names of courses/papers offered by your college maybe different from the courses mentioned in the table. Please fill in names of courses you have covered in the 6 semesters.

For students not belonging to Mumbai University –

In case your college/university has a greater number of courses/papers in Microbiology please add rows wherever needed. 

In case your college/university has fewer number of courses/papers in Microbiology please add NA in the rows for course/paper name and put marks obtained and maximum marks as zero.

In case your 6th Sem results are awaited please add zero for marks obtained and maximum marks.

CREATION OF THE ACADEMIC BANK OF CREDITS (ABC) ID

As per the guidelines by UGC and the University of Mumbai (please refer to the circular in the downloads below), students are requested to provide their ABC ID to the college at the time of admission. 

 

To facilitate the creation of the same in case you do not have one, please follow the steps mentioned below.

You can create your ABC ID using following any one method between Option A or Option B as per the steps given. 

 

OPTION A:

  • Website: www.abc.gov.in,
  • Visit  www.abc.gov.in
  • Click on my account: student
  • For new users – Click “sign up for “ Meri Pehchan”
  • Enter your Mobile Number, you will get OTP on your Registered Mobile No.
  • Fill in all necessary details and click on verify
  • Students will get ABC ID.

 

OPTION B:

  • www.digilocker.gov. in
  • Sign in to Digi Locker by visiting  www.digilocker.gov.in (can be done using Mobile or Aadhar)
  • Go to Search Documents
  • Go to Education Section
  • Search for the ABC ID widget
  • Click on the widget to generate and download ABC ID
  • Students will get ABC ID

THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION FORM: 

  1. Student Photo & Signature (in jpg format only)
  2. Aadhar Card(scan of both the Front & Back will be required)
  3. Mark sheets
  4. Domicile Certificate (If Applicable)
  5. Baptism Certificate (If Applicable)
  6. SWD Proof (Student with Disabilities) (If Applicable)
