Important Notes

  1. This form is required to be filled up only if you are considering applying for the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Programme with a Major in Biotechnology and Computational Biology and a Minor in either Information Technology / Management Studies / Mass Communication and Journalism.
  2. Once admitted to this programme, you cannot change your major or minor subjects.
  3. Admissions will be based on merit.
  4. The fees for the unaided (Self-Financing) B.Sc. Programme are approximately Rs. 1,20,000/- for the first year (FYBSc).
  5. Under the NEP structure of the B.Sc. Programme, students are required to study other courses such as open electives, Indian Knowledge Systems, and skill- and ability-enhancement courses, apart from the core and minor courses.
  6. Please read the NEP Prospectus carefully before filling up the form.

Application Fee

Online Application Fee: Rs. 500/-

Please note: the above fees are non-refundable, and the offer of admission will be based on merit and the number of seats available.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics / Information Technology from a recognised Board. (Refer to admission notice for details.)
  • IB and A-Level students may enter their marks based on predicted grades (in case results are not yet declared) to secure provisional admission based on merit.
  • Students who have not appeared for the 12th Standard under the Science faculty are ineligible to apply for the B.Sc. Programme.

International Candidates

  • Seats for international students are supernumerary.
  • Applications for those seats must be made through the University of Mumbai website: https://mu.admissiondesk.org/.
  • Please do not fill out the college application form.
  • Students that fall under this category include: students who have done their high-school education or have undergraduate degrees from outside India, Foreign students (FR / FS), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), SAARC students, and Non-Resident Indians (NRI).
  • The definitions of these categories are available on the Mumbai University website.

Creation of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID

As per the guidelines by UGC and the University of Mumbai (please refer to the circular in the downloads below), students are requested to provide their ABC ID to the college at the time of admission.

To facilitate the creation of an ABC ID in case you do not have one, please follow the steps below. You can create your ABC ID using either Option A or Option B as per the steps given.

Option A — via the ABC Portal

  • Website: www.abc.gov.in.
  • Visit www.abc.gov.in.
  • Click on My Account: Student.
  • For new users, click Sign up for Meri Pehchan.
  • Enter your Mobile Number; you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  • Fill in all necessary details and click on Verify.
  • Students will get the ABC ID.

Option B — via DigiLocker

  • Website: www.digilocker.gov.in.
  • Sign in to DigiLocker by visiting www.digilocker.gov.in (this can be done using mobile or Aadhaar).
  • Go to Search Documents.
  • Go to the Education Section.
  • Search for the ABC ID widget.
  • Click on the widget to generate and download your ABC ID.
  • Students will get the ABC ID.

University of Mumbai Pre-Admission Online Registration

The University of Mumbai has made it mandatory for all students seeking admission to First-Year courses in degree colleges to fill in the "Pre-Admission Online Registration Form" at the following link: https://muugadmission.samarth.edu.in/.

Admission will not be granted if the applicant does not fill out the University form and submit to the college the University registration number (enrolment number). However, filling out the University form does not imply an application for admission to any course of study in St. Xavier's College, or for that matter to any Mumbai University-affiliated college.

By accepting to proceed:

  • I confirm that I have read and accept the provisions of the rules under Autonomy in the College Handbook 2026, Section 5.6, page 29.
  • I confirm that my educational qualifications will be verified, and if any discrepancy is found in my application, my admission will be forfeited.
  • As per the Ordinance of the University of Mumbai O.6086 dated 05/05/2014, 75% attendance at lectures and practicals is mandatory. Students joining this College are required to read and accept the provisions of the rules under Autonomy, especially related to attendance.
  • I understand that the subject allotment on admission is for the first year. The subject allotment for the second year and subsequent years will be based on merit (performance in the first year or the overall performance in the preceding years) and the availability of seats.
  • I understand that all the courses from the academic year 2023–24 are designed as per the NEP 2020 credit framework, in accordance with the Government Resolution (GR) issued by the Government of Maharashtra.
  • I understand that the College will abide by all NEP GRs issued by the Government of Maharashtra from time to time, and all such amendments will be applicable to all the students admitted to the College.
